Woke up this morning to 9 below zero and wimped out. Fished off Lewis Point from 1:00pm-5:30pm. Caught 4 Walleye, all short! Did managed one decent Perch.

Met a nice old gentlemen at the old bank in Constantia today as he was packing up and going home. He was from out towards Geneva and being a veteran ice man but a newbie to Oneida was getting his arse handed to him the last few days. I didn't get your name but I hope your persistence pays off you seemed like a real class act and I hope my meager advice puts you on your first Oneida lake fish!!!!!! If you are on here send me a PM

Is it possible to get to Shackleton shoals by walking? If so shortest point looks to be coming from south side. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Well I did horrible today, tried 6 places and the last place ( all around Shackleton shoals) we had five lookers but not a bite all day! So I'm not sure if it's location or presentation. Tried everything from spikes to minnows, jigging raps, and a dozzens more. It was nice to be out thee though.

I only ended up with 15 to bring home. Five were 9 1/2" the other ten were bigger but none larger than 11 1/2". Lots of fish on the screen, lots of dinks. Nice seeing you today sully. Must have missed you chummer.
my biggest one was 13 5/8", and 12 of them were over 12".   Sully...

This is a rant to the scumbag or scumbags who threw the 10-12 burbots on the ice out by 130 ! You sir or sirs are TRUE sportsmen. Take them over and let them go in another hole or leave them in a bucket till you leave. Your probably the same person who left the 18 pack of beer cans and 4 empty propane cylinders out there. Sorry for the rant
couldn't aggree more Terry. True scumbags !!!   Sully...

What's the parking situation looking near Borio's/Williams Beach area?

There is a good deal of parking at Williams Park (vehicles without trailers on lake side, others across road), but it fills up quickly, especially with forecasts like the one they are calling for this weekend. I would recommend getting there relatively early if you want a spot.

Anyone by chance find a 5g pail with a bait bucket in it at the parking area at Lewis? I can't for the life of me find it. I know I had it at the car. Thinking I forgot to put it innn the car. I swear I had it though. Hmm. Glad to see folks having good days on the ice. It's a shame folks are leaving those burbot on the ice. I think a lot of it is ignorance.

Well we got spanked pretty good yesterday. Just one eye and a half dozen keeper perch. We moved quite a bit to try to get out of the dinks, but when we did, we got out of the fish too. Lost two other eyes in the same area as the one I got. Looks like I will be back Monday.

Seems like a lot more post from guys driving 2-3 hours for their first trip. You see all the posts about huge numbers of perch and walleyes and it brings people in from a long ways away. I think the difference is you can't just show on Oneida and have success. I have been ice fishing Oneida for 7 years now and the fishing seems to be better than ever.  The Internet does ruin a hot spot in one day, that part still amazes me.

Lots of guys see big numbers posted on here and think there a fish everywhere and travel along way to get on oneida then find out just how tough it can be. I travel 2 hours a bunch of times throughout the season to fish oneida and know there are gonna be days that are real tough but when you put your time in and get on them it makes it that much sweeter and to me that is better than going to sodus sitting over one hole catching a hundred fish and taking home 25 decent one.I think the hunt is more fun than the catching. See you guys in the am saturday and good luck

My dad always used to say that you can't hurt Oneida with a hand line. The lake is just too big. It will take something else like cormorants to hurt the population in this lake.

When I was a kid the shanty towns were huge. There seems like less pressure nowadays.

We are selfish, we want all the fish to ourselves. Tomorrow will be a zoo but if you look at the big picture it is great for the local economy. When "your" spot gets invaded just except the challange and go find another bunch of fish. That being said I can already hear the cuss words coming out of my mouth tomorrow morning... ;D

I sent out a couple of PM,s , but here is something that will get you scratching your head there was a bust on the lake and it wasn't for fish some guys were cooking Meth omg strike a match and we can have a community hole to fish , this came from a very reliable source ,but what gets my old hair up is the crap they are dumping in our water  :%$#!: ,

Found out tonight that this is true.

Great job to the ECO's for this grab!!! I know they read this forum. Keep up the good work!!
