Thinking of making the trip north and going off of Chapman Park, any reports on the conditions? Can't seem to find any good reports on the right page.  Don't mind making the trip but me and Fish2163 want to know what we are in for if we head that way.  We got the gear now and just want to be sure we have safe ice.

Mods, If there is a conditions and reports page for Chapman Park please do point me in the right direction as far as link and don't delete my posts'.  Info is helpful and I do not want to hear of the honey holes, If they are there we will find them, trust me!  Fish On!

going to get the sled going tommorow. the nw wind blew all day, and it looks like it drifted up good.

there is another pressure crack, and it's a big one !!! it runs from toad harbor down the north side of the channel to brewerton. some of it is 5' high !! to get around it your going to have to go all the way to shore by toad harbor if your going to big bay.   Sully...

Just hoping the cold weather doesn't give those not familiar with the lake a false sense of security.  Leaving them ripping around blindly this weekend.....its still Oneida.

Even in cold winters, lake effect stays productive through the end of January, maybe we'll have a good old fashion sunny February.  So far this season Lake Ontario has been running solo, no help from the other lakes, the bands have been setting up in southern Jefferson county.  I would imagine Lake Ontario is still running 39 degrees.

Lake Ontario is already down to 34 degrees.  The reading I'm going by is taken off the BOTTOM of the lake in 50' of water off of Rochester.

I have the ability to walk on water....therefore I am!!!

I fished off the north shore with my buddy Eric today. It was a balmy -10 when we headed out. We tried out his new Otter Cabin 650 today. That shanty is awesome! We fished a few spots. Every time we looked for perch we found more eyes. We iced 14 eyes with 1 short. It was a great day out there despite the cold.

Bartel Road Bait and Tackle
5501 Bartel Rd #12, Brewerton, NY ‎
(315) 676-2144 ‎, GREAT INFO

Fished all day today straight out of Constantia, parked at the end of mill rd, (next to nice & easy.
"use your own judgment at all times"!! ,But we used a snowmobile to drag our shanty's  out to 24ft
looked to be 7-10 inches. wheelers were out as well as other sleds. We did good until 1 pm and then slowed.  We ended with a nice bucket of perch and a few eye's, dress warm, hope this helps, as recent post helped us as its not very easy to get info if your not from the area. Thanks Bartel Bait and Tackle for added info, much appreciated. what a fantastic day of fishing we had. good luck to all this weekend.

I keep seeing posts that say there is 4 inches of snow on the ice and that the walk is terrible. Am I missing something? Did you guys not get hit with as much snow? Is 4 inches considered bad or are you guys not using smitty sleds? I was walking through about 9 inches a couple weeks ago in the dacks and it wasn't too bad so Im a little confused. Either way ill see you boys in about 5.5 hours so I better get a couple hours of sleep.

the snow that is on the ice is very compact. kinda like walking in sand pulling 60 to 80lbs of gear. it was really tough out there.   Sully...

Well......if the forecast is true it might be shaping up nice out there for me. Last I looked they are showing a quick warm up with chance of a little rain sun afternoon into Monday. Then temps back in the basement right after. Quick melt and freeze and I could be looking at a super easy drag by the time I can finally get out for the first time Thursday.

5" of snow most everywhere yesterday with some small drifts. With glare ice underneath the walking was tough. Creepers and a smitty are a good idea.

Hello all.  I've been a lurker for years, figured I didn't have much to add to what was being said.  I know a few of you guys already.  Gotta say, you are great bunch, and I love reading all the posts.  If I ever get enough wisdom to share, or time enough to use it I will post more.  For now I wanted to share a pic of my son Connor with a 29" pickerel, 5 3/4 lbs.  He picked the lure, picked the spot on the Navionics map, guided us there, used the Vex to spot him and dabbled him up for a strike, set the hook and got his head through the hole.  All I did was hook a finger under a gill and drag him out.  He's only 5, but watch out Snagger, he's after your reputation already!
Tight lines everyone.
