Moosehead Excursion Last Week

Was able to take my first fishing trip up to Moosehead lake during my Spring Break from college. Of course the weather didn't exactly cooperate. Arrived late Monday night and spent Tuesday morning trying to target togue, moving around trying to mark fish. By two, white out conditions and we still couldn't get on anything besides a few small cusk. Finished out the day with minimal rewards. Wednesday the nor'easter hammered down on us and all we could manage was a few traps off camp. One lost togue and a bunch of small cusk. Finally the snow broke and we got out marginally early Thursday and were rewarded with a few brookies, togue, cusk and plenty of flags throughout the day. Still had 20-25 mph all day and blowing snow down the lake. Wouldn't call the trip a total failure for a first time ever but wish the weather could've been more cooperative. Really had hoped to fish out of Rockwood one of the day's but the opportunity never presented itself.

Tough ice fishing conditions. You got some decent fish just not the #’s you expected.
