Marshfield ice is about 4 inches of black ice under about 8 inches of snow.  The weight of the snow pushes the water up out of your holes, making sloppy, wet conditions.

INS, Keep drilling holes until the water saturates all  the snow .That would help the ice set up more.  ;D

Careful on Marshfield - there was dozens of acre open water mid lake before the snow storm.
Launch area looked frozen pre snow storm I did not walk out on it pre storm.

Anyone know if chittenden damn is still fishable? Wanna head up there on Saturday but not sure if this warm weather killed the ice
