What are your favorite ice jigs for the sometimes elusive eye?  Maramooska, Tear drops, Rockers, or other similar jigs?

Firetiger JB Lures Gem-N-Eye with a smelt head.  That is, if you aren't counting Swedish Pimples in this thread.

ok asphalt kid  just a little suspense--i tried this last year with a couple of pros who appear on one of the major fishing shows up here. NOTHING  they looked at me like i was crazy but yanked a nice one up and they said i bet you cant do that again-so 2 more and they just shook their heads in dis-belief---try it sometime and see if you can catch something--the real toughy is an unpainted jighead ;D ;D---consider this as a challenge and i do want a report :'(

try one of my favourite summer crankbaits if you're fishing a river with some current. rig a tri-swivel with a good bottom weight and run about 4-5 feet of mono with a rapala taildancer on it (tip-down, tipup, rod, all work great)-this winter when i get out on a river i'm going to try a jointed shadrap and some others as well  lol :'( :'( :'(

Is there a reason to bait the spoons with only the shiner's head as opposed to an entire shiner?

How about a Jigging Rappla, just a head on the treble hook?

I am going to be fishing a small lake in NY that has some walleye in it.  I have caught them in the summer but nothing much larger then 12 inches.  So I plan on setting up my tip-ups for bass/pickerel and jigging with the hopes of catching a walleye.

Any suggestions would be great.

Because that's what they want/like.  ;)  Yes to the jigging rap.
The head will work better than the whole minnow more often than not.

Small 5 of diamionds with a stinger/trailer hook and a whole minnow.   or double up with two minnow heads, one on treble and one on stinger, or experiminet with combos like perch eye and minnow head or minnow head and maggots.  Works for me!  My back-up hook is always the "DEADLY DICK" with same trailer hook set up.
Good luck and happy fishing

Just got some chubby darters at Dicks today.  All their ice gear except rods is on clearance.
