of course you can Gkomo but I'm saying that the intense red your seeing on the fish or lure your using is all to do with your color gain when your in the blue screen setting not the swim bladder. it will make all objects red if its turned up enough.

I do that on my flasher when things get tough.  Increases the excitement a bit when that 15" Northern hits!

Hey rip, i think what he is getting at is that the swim bladder of a fish typically has the highest return of any point in its body. In shallow water with the gain turned up i can make out the individual fins on a pike. But the swim bladder will almost always be the strongest signal because density changes from a liquid to a gas providing a strong reflection. Jigs give a similarly strong reflect due to the change from liquid to solid metal.

Thats not to say all you ever see on a finder is swim bladders. And you can definetly tell the difference between a bar hook and one with a dead minnow if you set it right.

Interesting… and of course what you’re saying is factual based ? Because I can’t find anything on that theory. But did find a bunch of info on the garmin site and other reviews done on live scope and mega live on setting up these units . Anyway thx. Moving on.

I find I swear a lot at my flasher and camera screens when the fish that are there won't bite. Do you use longer or nastier swear words when using more expensive electronics?

For Myself when they come in on the flasher and are not committing I find it more of a challenge to try to find out why. Changing things up. Of course some days they’re just not gonna bite. But never get to verbally unglued.

This gave me a chuckle. My guess is the swearing would increase in both quantity and quality if more expensive electronics didn't yield more bites. Lol

I would try different lures and presentation and different baits and just because u can see the fish doesn't always mean your going to catch, that's why they call it fishing, still better than sitting in an office or working. Regards

Hey Rip,

Vexilar put out a decent writeup on it. I dont like that they take a fairly firm stance that ALL you see is the bladder tho. I covered a bit of wave reflection stuff in uni and id say the science checks out.

Speck,

There can be some loud colourful language coming from my shack when im watching the nose the bait but not commit. Agreed its only worse since upgrading from 2D.

I need my Doctor to access Vexilar technology. He can barely find any of my organs when doing an ultrasound in real time. Impressive!!

No problem. I dont think the physics they get into helps put any fish in the boat or on the ice. But especially open water, knowing how that 3d cone looks when its turned into a 1d line can be huge

Pretty narrow bite window this morning.

A special guest appearance by this big girl made it worthwhile however. There was a lot less anxiety as she slipped back down the hole than there was when she was coming out.

As we know all fisherman tend to lie (Speck), so I will sign on the witness line as I was there this morning with Speck.  Myself on the other hand
was going for eaters  :)  16 inches of fine eating.

Guess we will target Walleye until the Perch show up.

I’ve been out five times so far. I’ve fished the far south side and far north side and I gotta say that I’ve seen more walleye and pike on the camera than perch. Is it just me, or is anyone seeing the same. Im not complaining, but it’s kinda weird not seeing the perch.

Tight lines everyone!!

Well me and the little woman caught so many walleye this summer it would make your head spin and only the odd perch . Maybe the perch had a lot of winter kill last winter, for the lucky ones fishing this week what is the ice thickness if u don't mind me asking. Regards

Church really does deserve credit for the assist on the catch. He plucked her out of the hole while reminding me not to screw things up.
i'm not sure which of us was more excited.

So no issues driving on the south end? On saturday I want to get to my summer location but will need to drive on at the boat launches and head north along the east shore.

Sparks, I see no problem in doing that.  Anyone think any different?  There were people driving on the North launch and driving across to the West side going North last weekend.  It's been almost another week.
