The time finally came! I had a chance to get out on some ice and punched a few holes. The ice wasn’t as thick as I though it would of been, and there were still parts of open water on one of the nearby ponds. Either way, where I was fishing there was about 4” of black ice with another inch of white ice on top.
I was out for close to three hours, and jigged up about 6 average sized tank scrubbers. No pictures as I was in a hurry to get the lure back down the hole while the school was still there. I only had the school come through 4 times. They were very nippy and slashed a the spoon a lot like in classic brookie fashion, but most of the time they wouldn’t commit well unless there was some bait on my spoon.
