I have three of them... I love them for certain situations!  the only thing I dont like about them is the black line they come with but that is an easy fix... they are a good tool to have in the sled
The Harder I try, the luckier I get!!

They have pros and cons.  Lower visibility is a problem if you cover ground, or are in deep snow.  The pro os the mechanism releases very smoothly and can allow you to pull the line out better without alerting the fish as to your presents.  I use both and think it is a good tool to have in you bag.

Oddfish
x2 i like them if im fishin for bows, traps are very smooth sometimes makes the difference in having a bow drop the bait or keep goin with it, but in deep snow they are hard to see..

I like all the styles but the HT and Frabil are my go to traps.  Was huge HT fan but love
not having to clean holes w the Frabil . Both smooth and reliable.

You can increase the visibility of the flat traps, like Polar, by making a cairn of snow right next to it.  I started doing that after I couldn't find my traps due to drifting snow.  Took me a half hour to find them.

That and the fact that they set up twice as fast as the upright traps.

That would help alot with afterschool fishing!
If people concentrated on the really important things in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles.
