Title: Fort Collins Area Ice?
Post by: DanR on Jan 20, 2024, 11:31 AM
Got out on Douglas up in Wellington last weekend and 6” black ice everywhere.  Gorgeous.  Anyone know if Lon Hagler is ready?  Also, thinking about hiking up above the Poudre in Gateway to Seaman Res, but unsure if there’s a good 4” at least.  Tight lines.

Well, heard from Jax that Lon Hagler had lots of open water a week and half ago.  Should be ready now, but I couldn’t drive down to confirm.  Just good to know ahead of time.  Kind of like Dustin Hoffman in Marathon Man - “is it safe?”

Stop by Lon Hagler Wednesday evening too check it. Met a guy who was all gear up to take a walk from parking area to dam. Stated he has fished the lake a bunch in the past. Stated there were 2 different layers of ice total about 3 inches by ramp. He stated it was too sketchy for him and passed on the evening bite.

Nice, thanks for heads up!  Going to have to head North once again for this weekend’s trip.
