Shack Jacket - Layer
« on: Jan 22, 2019, 07:44 PM »
My wife bought me one of those packable quilted light down jackets from Eddie Bauer for Christmas. I wore it out on the ice last night and it may become a full-time part of my ice gear. It is about the perfect shack jacket or layer to put under your parka. The jacket weighs nothing. If I had to guess, I’d say the jacket weighs about 5 or 6 ounces. You almost forget you have it on and they are really warm. I put it on with my bibs over the top and was perfect. Way lighter than even a cotton hoodie. Plus they are sort of a slippery fabric and won’t bind to other clothing layers. When I was outside, I put my striker parka over the top and was really warm even in the 12 degrees and 20 mile an hour winds we had here yesterday. Would strongly recommend one these jackets for comfort on the ice. They can be had for under $50 if you look around some.
