Dont lock your keys in the truck!
« on: Mar 11, 2019, 11:10 AM »
Hi everyone,
I wanted to provide a thank you to Bate's Towing outta Milton. Went out onto Carry Bay with the truck and somehow it got locked with the keys in the cup holder... Just before dark! This was not a good situation but thankfully Dustin, at Bate's Towing, came to the rescue and had it unlocked within 30 seconds after he arrived! They can save my day again anytime! Give them a call if you do the same dummy thing I did, anywhere up north near I89.

PS- fishing was slower than normal Saturday- we fished off blockhouse point 4-20 FOW. 7 pike and dink perch. one keeper pike 30" and a 24" because it was hooked bad
Load it, Drive it, Park it
Bait it, Jig it, Hook it
Catch it, Clean it, Cook it
Simply put just get out/ and do it

All's well that ends well. It has happened to me and it is like slow motion. You push the door closed and know what you have done but can't react quick enough to stop it from closing. Keeping a spare key in a magnetic box somewhere on the truck is a good idea.

I can remember being out in my canoe one time. reaching in my pocket for something and plop. There goes the keys in about 45' of water. Good thing I was only 10 minutes from home. LOL. Hide a key for me now.

My dad taught me to keep an extra in my wallet.  It's saved me from misery a few times for sure.

Ouch!

Glad it eventually worked out for you.

I recommend having a spare key to wear on a lanyard around ones neck.

Magnetic key box is less than 5 bucks. Easy way and simple to hide on either a frame or in the back of a truck inside a cap.

Did this on the breakwater fishing on Champlain last fall. The wife was not pleased about driving an hour and 20 minutes to bring the extra keys  ;D

I always bring a spare key or give the spare key to one of my fishing buddies in case of an emergency.  My locks can be unlocked with my cell phone as long as there is cell signal.
