I know it's early

but just gauging interest in a get together in central Iowa once we get some good ice. Maybe have a potluck type of gathering so we could have some eats/beverages after a day of fishing. would need to have it somewhere with a shelter house w/ electricity and a wind break if possible.

Sure there are . Here is a map Mike. Small crappie ...well up to 10" and small eyes is the mainstay on BC. Crappie are getting bigger every year. Gills ,Bass ,and some wipers are in the mix.

My brother really likes Big Creek area for snowmobiling and working his dogs, etc. Last year he went out with his dog and there were some people ice fishing and he said they were rolling walleyes. I hope central IA gets a cold snap soon. He and I usually meeting about every other weekend and try some place...but Boji and some lakes out here were slow last year. Would really like to find a crappie factory. They are fun and fast ....and eat as good as any fish, if not better. I know there are all sorts of brush piles in there. Anyone got any tips they would like to share about that lake? I have it down loaded but haven't had time to put together some kind of a plan. Thanks

Big Creek is public waters.
The local fishing club I belong to is assisting the DNR this Friday with some cedar tree pile installments in BC. I'm planning on being there if work doesn't bury me .

If any of you guys want to make the drive, we are having a get together on Mille Lacs in Jan. We are still ironing out the wrinkles, but it should be a good time.

A group of about 9 of us will be up there from 1/16 thru 1/20, which I know is one of the weekends you've been batting around....

I am reasonably sure that it will be the 19th. Allot of guys don't come back to IS till after deer hunting calms down so we are waiting for them to nail it down. We will set a date for sure before Dec 1st.

Sounds like there's a good chance we'll be up there at the same time then.

We'll be staying with the Nitti's. first 2 nights in a cabin and the next 2 nights in a sleeper.....

This sounds like a job for a WINGMAN!! I'll bring the turkey / wing fryer..."set fryer to stun!" Hot wings and cold ice are the best combo ever...once in a while...I'll have a beer with them.

not necessarily true. I had my 4 wheeler on BC last year and the year before that guys were driving on it. Even in a warm year, BC gets fishable ice....

That's too close to home for me not to show up. Britt I never have got a chance to get on DW with ya but Big Creek will work if anyone can show me how to catch fish on the darn thing.
