Don williams or Saylorville Lake
« on: Jan 02, 2011, 04:53 PM »
Hi guys and gals new to the site I live near Prairie du Chien Wi and am coming over to Ogden to introduce a young couple to the wonderful world of hard water fishing and was wondering if anyone fishes  these two lakes. Any info would be appreciated and Im certainly not asking  anyone to give up their honey holes justa general direction to find fish for the first timers. if anyone wants info from this area I fish the Mississippi almost every day though I have been out of action for the last 2 weeks Dave

I'd run up to Brushy Creek south of Ft. Dodge or Big Creek.  I can't speak for Don Williams but I would advise against Saylorville for safety's sake.

Honestly for taking out new ppl and for ease of getting out i would hit either big creek or the DMACC ponds right off of oralabor rd in ankeny. If you are looking for info and a good place to stock up on bait for big creek talk to bill at polk city bait and tackle.

I was on a bus and just happened to be sitting on a news paper. This guy came up and asked. "Are you reading that ?"
I said  yes, stood up, turned the page and sat back down.

there is a pay lake[pond] a few miles north and mile and a half or so east. look at a google map. don't know much about it. but its closer than D. W. also a public pit east of town right before the river on the north side. i'll try to get some more info.

Forget Don Williams ...too much shad ... no consistency with any pan fish.
Saylorville is not worth the trip. Don't waste your time.

Any BC will work : Big Creek , Brushy Creek , Badger Creek
