Title: Nils Auger
Post by: jschmitt on Jan 30, 2019, 09:59 AM
Anyone else have a Nils convertible auger that spins on the shaft. Its like there is a tube that fits inside the upper and lower sections that connects the hand crank to the flights and it is spinning on that tube.  I'm not sure what to do to stop it. I cant get it off and I'm not sure if it is a solid bar connecting the two and could just be welded on the seam. If its a hollow inner tube I could drill it on the flight section and put another bolt through down there.  If anyone can get theirs apart to let me know if it is solid or hollow and how far it extends inside the shaft that would help the next step.  Thanks

I think you have the nills artic trekker...  that the upper part is basically a tube  that fits in a tube and uses a bolt and wing nut to stop it from turning/spinning in place...

Your on the right track. Drill it out ad use a bolt to stop it from slipping.

I have had mine for three years and it just started slipping on me last weekend. Not ideal as I was running perch out in the middle of the lake and ended up not having an auger. Seems like a serious design flaw.
