So predictions for safe ice in WI, I know a few places have ice but it is so spotty.

I am thinking a week and a half...so I guess New years weekend?

i'll agree with you its above freezing right now but it drops down in the 20's at about 4:30.
above freezing 10am til 3pm 5 hours of melt 21 hours of freezing (all times are approximate)

I stick by my prediction of second week in January. Damn El Nino (which is spanish for......THE NINO!!!)

There was good ice up until a week or so ago, but after that last rain, took care of my crappie fishin'. Really did great on them first ice, but now my lake is open.
The way the weather is looking, wont hit the hard water anytime soon, maybe 2007

There is 8-9 inches on the Phillips chain. There were at least 3 pick ups out on Duroy today.
