how thick is pasqua?

I heard the east end was thick enough that some people were out last weekend fishing. Not sure of the actual measurement.

Uncle of mine told me 7" on Round lake, west of Birds Point as of last Thursday. Haven't confirmed for myself yet.

A buddy and I were out on Sunday. We walked from the park out onto the lake. There was 8.5" of ice. Most of it was nice black ice. Landed quite a few walleye that morning.

Did some test holes at Katepwa South near the bottom of the highway. I measured 9" and there were folks with ATVs on the ice as well as one shack. I walked on only. Katepwa Beach was the same with 9" of ice. There appeared to be a couple shacks closer to shore that were dragged on by snowmobile so no vehicles. As per usual, enter at your own risk as ice thickness varies place to place.

Did you access the lake at Lutherland camp? just wondering if they have the gates open this year or if a guy has to use the boat launch to the West. thanks.

Just looking for an update regarding ice thickness on Pasqua.  I apologize as I've asked this question earlier.

Is anyone getting on at the provincial park and driving on the south side of the lake to the point?  I really don't want to walk and was curious if anyone has ice thickness reports?  I'm trying to determine which direction I'll go from Regina.

Thanks everyone!

My cabin is 1 klick before lutherland on north side. I saw a truck straight across from me Christmas day on south side. must of come on from boat launch. ice is a solid 12 inches.  Saw no one driving across lake. hope this helps.

Hit lutherland this morning, 14" of good black ice. Quite a few walleye and whitefish all released. Was good to be out, nice calm quiet morning. Pretty much any lure was working with a piece of minnow. Bite shut right off around noon may as well have left at that point! Good luck to everyone heading out this weekend.

Couldn't keep the walleye off the hook yesterday from 11-3 just across from the ski hill at Mission.  Caught 20+, a couple whitefish and two perch.  Lots of smaller ones but did keep our limit.  Fish on the camera pretty much nonstop for the 4 hours.

Got to Lutherland today, was in ten ft around some other shacks. Didn't get to pull any out. Had some pike take the hook and immediatly spit it out. All one can do is laugh. Most times they just weren't interested, same with the walleye, just window shopping. Love the camera.  Deeper pro+ does only last a bit over four hrs, nice bit of kit though.

How's the winter been on these lakes   not much talking or bragging going on .?. I have had pretty good success with the walleye  perch were plentiful a while ago now nothing need to find more perch down to last 2 eyeballs which the walleye seem to like especially  with a long optical cord trailing on it  let's hear from u all

Boo Hoo!
I’m crushed in that when packing up at Lutherland about a month ago a white fishing rod with a black reel was accidentally left behind. I have about a dozen but this one is special to me and has sentimental value. If by chance you or someone you know came across it I’d be very appreciative in getting it back. Please message me so one of my originals can return home.

Thanks treeplucker!

Is it still possible to drive with a 4x4 truck on Katepwa or is there too much snow?

I'm considering a couple different access points that are closer to our sampling spot so we don't have to drive as far (see attached picture).  One of them (50.69624, -103.64472) is on the other side of the lake like you suggested and is about 600m away.  The other one (50.69467, -103.63086) I've used before in the summer and it is only 400m away.  Since this one's closer we might try it if it's accessible in the winter...

The 2 circled sights are bad the one on park side is big rough rocks as of year and half ago, other one is usually drifted in as fact northish. Hope this helps

Post by: Wissel on Feb 21, 2019, 09:33 PM
Thanks treeplucker!

Last question (I hope)... what if we drive out to the end of Lakeview Crescent on the west side of the lake?  Even if we can't drive onto the ice here due to drifts it's only about 320m to our sampling point so then we'd probably just walk.

I guess we could still drive onto the lake at the provincial park boat launch but I'm a bit nervous about getting stuck in the snow if we have to drive for about 1 km... we have a 4x4 truck but it can still get stuck :) Planning to go out here this Saturday.

Thanks again!

Was at Lutherland this aft, not another soul around. Guess they're smarter than us, no fish caught. Twenty one ft, had some curious perch, couple small eyes, tulibee and one sucker in the water, added to two in the shack. Still better than working by a long way. Easy entryon to the ice, good travel conditions once on.  Guesstimate over 30 inches of ice.

Lutherland, textbook spot, off the point, deeper water all around,  fishing 16 ft, catching zero fish.  Guess the fish didn't school up and read the book. Saw a few jack, tulibee and suckers. Had a jack steal a minnow once. Just enough on the screen to keep the interest.

we set up east of the point a little further in the bay last weekend. tip ups ranging from 6 - 24 FOW. jigging around the 24' mark. lots of fry perch and walleye on the screen but no takers and not even a false flag on a tip-up. got bored of that so we chased tulibee higher up in the water column. ended up putting close to a dozen of them on the ice.

Hi! I'm wondering if someone could tell me the approximate date when most of the ice has melted on Last Mountain, Katepwa, Buffalo Pound and Crooked.

I'm from the University of Regina and writing my thesis on winter conditions in lakes around SK, so that's why I'm hoping to catch the approx. ice-off date, which would be when 2/3 of the lake has melted or the first day when its completely melted to go with a boat. I'm grateful for any reply and update as soon as the ice melts! Thanks!
