Title: NEW REGS IN SW WYOMING
Post by: Wyoming_Ice on Dec 12, 2007, 02:44 PM
I called the game warden and asked about the rumors floating around about the changes in the regs. around the sw corner of Wyoming.
 Here's the deal :

Fontenelle and Sulpher Creek are going to winter regs (six lines allowed).

The Kemmerer City Res. is still artificial only.
There is no longer a slot-
Allowed three fish per day-only one over 16" -and three in possesion.

All of these take effect Jan. 1

I asked if sleds were allowed on the City and he said they are ok.

He asked that we spread the word, as he hates to write tickets... :'(

The City Res. is still artificial bait only. There was a rumor that they were going to allow bait, but that did not happen. He said that scent sprays were ok.

Do you know if they are going to allow live bait at foutnelle?

WYOiceman, I don't think you're allowed to use live minnows. I could be wrong, but I really don't think that I am. We use sucker meat and dead minnows a lot.
You can use mealys, nightcrawlers, powerbait, etc... At the City Res., all you can use is bare jigs.

I haven't heard that POK3s. I asked about Fontenelle and the City Res..I kinda doubt that too. But, I could be wrong. I am going to see him this weekend and I will ask.

Flaming Gorge Res. is added to list of Special Winter Ice Fishing Provisions. That means 6 lines.
Big Sandy Res. is also on there.

Better get them tipups out and shined up ;)

Also, No limit on ling and walleye in Carbon, Lincoln, Sublette, Sweetwater, and Uinta counties. Go Get Em Boys...

Lake Desmet is also one of the new winter ice spots.  Me and Iceneyes are going to try to find where the walleye are hanging out.

Just to followup on the Regs, Healy Res also has been changed to the Winter Ice Regs. Everyone that fishes it needs to keep there 50. Way to many little 4-5"ers.

You can now use bait on Healy year round again. Just No live minnows.  Maybe now we can put a dent in the over populated perch problem at Healy.
IcenEyes and PC, I would be up for a walleye recon mission out to Desmet some day next week.

No, I had the kids dump the minnows and they did a helluva lot better job then I usually do!! They did not leave a minnow in the bucket, I dont ever think I have done that!
Monday or Tuesday would be great. How is the ice out there?
Is that Garth that finally signed up?

Gonna hit the gorge sunday if this storm blows through.  I've never used a tipup without live bait. Can you catch lake trout on tipups without minnows?
By the way what exactly is a tube jig?

I know I'm showing my laker ignorance here.

Tip ups will pickup some mac`s, but not many.

A tube jig is just that, a plastic tube with a weight inside of it.  They are really effective on the Gorge for all types of fish.  Here is a link to my favorite brand even though their are other ones out there that are just as effective.

We've had pretty good luck catching macs on tipups with either a dead minnow on the bottom or a chunk of sucker meat about 2" long, but that was on Boulder, New Fork and Fremont.  ;D

There wasn't any good ice at south buckboard yet, but I don't know about buckboard cove itself.
