Been keeping track for a while and its usually around the 15 of December. Looking at the forecast it seems like it may be a late year. I hope not. What are you guys/girls thinking.

The 15th was the earliest I’ve been out in the past 4years. Since many of the ponds were already skimming over before the snow and rain, I’d say it’s primed for this weeks cold snap. Even down here in Portland it’s not supposed to get above freezing for a week after Monday.

A friend was out on Hancock Thanksgiving day.  Not a lot of ice but a little.

If this forecast holds, should be plenty of smaller waters near Portland with fishable ice by next weekend.

I stepped on ice this weekend but it cracked pretty quickly so no wetlines for me. Cc

I'm against picketing, but I don't know how to show it.

The depressing thing about tennis is that no matter how good I get, I'll never be as good as a wall.

Happy fishing!

We all need to be aware of the excess rain .This causes more current under ice  which will melt ice from under fast ,So even tho it looks solid on top there will be thin areas from under everywhere!!!!!

Otters 4 was just skimming over before the warm spell so no, maybe just enough on the edges to make it a pain to fish from shore like it was two weeks ago.

Daytime highs below freezing tomorrow. Might find some hardwater this weekend.

Hopefully I’ll be out checking this Friday. I’ll take what I can get if I find safe ice, but not sure if I’d want to go for panfish or the usual tank scrubbers to knock the rust off for the season.

Well I may have been off, I found out the hard way a large pond in Poland was locked up with a layer of white ice over about an inch or so of clear ice. I walked a couple yards off shore on the boat ramp, wished I had my spud and auger with me instead of just open water gear.

What did you do take a swim?  I saw a fellow take a swim in Crystal lake years ago It was late spring then.

No, I never ventured any furthan than the concrete ramp itself lol. I was expecting to do some shore fishing and found myself jumping on the ice to see if I could break it lol. Wouldn’t call it safe ice, but I would of been jigging in waist deep water if I had brought gear with me to punch a hole. Ended up checking a few other spots to shore fish, all open, and caught a bow on the last lake.
