With very little bodies of water to choose from up here in Maine, my brother and I found a small pond with 5" of solid ice. Didnt take long to track down some solid perch. Felt good to be back on the ice. Many more to come. Stay tuned.

It is. Didn't even bring traps. Just jigged for 2 hours.

I checked My Perch holes in Cumberland cty. today and they are still all open.

Our sizable ponds are still wide open. Our smaller ones are sealed in enough to fish. Unfortunately all this rain and snow isn’t gonna help anything

Very nice perch. Funny what you guys call "small ponds" we call small lakes here in the midwest. And then there's Texas where a farm pond is called a "tank."

I know, I’ve picked up on that as well. I believe our verbage comes from how deep the lake/pond is.

There are so many lakes in Maine it can be overwhelming to choose one to fish. I dont know where you are from but I was born here am gonna die here. Oh nicd videos on Youtube btw NOT!

You are so blessed. I have 100 lakes in my county but many don't have public access. If they do you're pretty much out of luck if you don't have a boat to launch at a public access.

Most of our trout and salmon lakes are closed til. Jan 1st. Thankfully most of our bass and pIke lakes are open once the ice forms.
