use live mill worms with something shinny like a swedish pimple. trout will strike out of aggravation at times, caught lots of fish that way, also Velveeta cheese works well. we use a white jig with a pink plastic tipped with a mill worm, kill them that way. good luck!

Buy a cheap shrimp ring at the store and use about 1 cm piece at a time with a jig mith maribou, fluffy hair...  Usually 1/16 ounce or smaller . Got brookies and bows on this
Set up all the time. They seem to love it.
I would way rather be fishing

Mill Worms, hmm.

You got me there Dirty P, that's another new bait I'd really like to know about, where to find them and I'll do the rest.
Do they look similar to this?   http://www.enchantedlearning.com/subjects/insects/beetles/mealworm/mealwormlifecycle.shtml

i find trout like wax worms and minnows  on a light wire hook like a tmc 2457 in a size 16 hooked so they cant see the hook most of the knot to on the waxies.  if you can hook the minnows so they live like i do. i hook them above the laterl line behind the dorsal fin on the back let them wiggle. sooner or later a trout will find them and it game on.

I use shrimp too and have killed bows on it. Sometimes that's all they'll hit. But I learned the hard way ya gotta use the cooked stuff.

for bows up here in the smaller lakes a small jig and minnow and then tie a polamar know and a little hook above the minnow like a foot then put on a small piece of worm. the minnow moves the worm and it looks like a bug. for the lake ontario bows we use roe bags

you know i use wax worms for panfish never had much luck with trout, one other thing that worked for me is a tear drop jig with salmon eggs. ive killed them with that. but i'll have to give wax worms most of a chance.

Dirty P,
Waxies have been my go to for the last couple years.  I used to carry meal worms as well, but i couldnt buy a hit with them last year so havent even bought any this year.  Some folks down here have been using dried krill as well.  I havent landed anything with them but I know alot of others who have killed with them.

I have only been fishing for rainbows so-far this winter, but they have been liking the Berkley trout power nuggets on a single hook.
They have been use to eating the hatchery food also so Berkleys hatchery dough pellets are also working for me.

For jigging spoons small PK flutter fish, Hali lures and lindy darters with a power nugget or plastic tail have also had the hits.

Please don't use corn, its a fact that it kills trout that ingest it!!!!! Besides there are far better baits to use like worms, eggs and minnows.

It doesn't kill fish.  It is difficult for them to digest.  It fills them up, and they don't grow as fast.  The fish in the study were fed nothing but corn for 54 days!  And it didn't kill one of them.
