Lindy Darter/ Chubby Darter for Rainbows?
« on: Nov 29, 2010, 11:35 AM »
I bought a bunch of these darters in various colors and sizes to fish walleye and pike but haven't had any luck on trout with them. Anyone out there have any insight?

They work really well when trout are feeding and don't need to be tempted with bait.

My best trout tactic is a 1/10 ounce swedish pimple or a custom jigs and spins stinger spoon, tipped with a sliver of nightcrawler and slathered with a bit of crawfish anise smelly jelly. Fish 7 - 25 feet of water from the bottom all the way up to 5 feet below the ice. If they won't hit the spoon, a custom jigs and spins ratso or shrimpo with a single waxy will usually get them to take.

I tried my Darters last season and all I got were them looking at it.  >:(

Will give it another shot this season.

You could use the small ones.

I have caught Rainbows and Brown on small Jigging Raps.

Usually on the dropper to a small hook with a wax worm though., not on the larger bait itself.

Give it a try.
