Bring on the ice!
« on: Aug 07, 2018, 06:26 PM »
I’m really hating this heat and humidity. I can’t wait for fall and winter to roll around. Reminds me to get the flasher battery topped off, and maybe change some line on some jig rods.

I do prefer fishing over hunting, but I don’t want to skip it all together. I mostly hunt small game, since I don’t have the patience or freezer space for deer. Though surprise surprise, since I started squirrel hunting, I’ve walked up on more deer than I’ve ever seen waiting for one. Then there some fall fishing before the freeze up. All in anticipation of putting the boat away and just walking out across the pond or lake.

I'm with you in hating this heat and humidity.  I can't wait until to get out ice fishing but I don't want to rush through the hunting season.

My new toy should be arriving today. I’ll be using it for open water first but I can’t wait to see it in action under the ice.

Reels are spooled up, plastics are stocked up, auger blades sharp. Now we wait for the snow to fly and the mercury to drop.
 Lets do this!

The small ponds had a skin of ice yesterday. There's 2" of fresh snow on top of that now but with rain and 40° all next week it won't last. I still expect this to be my shortest off season from ice fishing.

New Eskimo 10”, New line on my rods, even changing the main line on my tip-ups after 30 years...Should be the LAST time I do that.. haha.. The last auger too!  hehehe. Bought a trailer that I can put my wheeler on. A few new lures. Found a place with BIG worm free yellow perch close to home. Gonna get my deer and get tooled up enough to just turn the key on the truck and head ‘er!!  :icefish: :icefish: :icefish:

I’ve got a a couple rods for togue, only have one reel set up so far. Still looking for deals on some reels that will hold at least 100yds of 10lb line. I’ve been playing with the panoptix from my boat, it’s a whole new experience looking at the sonar now.
