How do you think the snow will affect ice growth

I hope all this snow didn't mess things up for the season

The weight of the amount of snow we got (30in here) will push down the ice putting water on top of it.  This will eventually weaken the ice and even melt it away even with the cold temperatures at night (snow insulates).  I think the ice season is done in this area unless we get a big warm up to meld down most of the snow and then start all over again.

The snow will act as an insulator, so that the warmer temps that are coming will not melt the ice as fast as it would were there no snow cover.

Regardless, you will see a lot of melting!

My opinion I think the season is over. Starting this weekend you guys have a warm up coming no freezing tempts not even at night

Went out yesterday fishing and there was a lot of slush and water from the melting snow it was a mess

Wind cleaned the ice today. 9" on GG .  Fishable easily all weekend.
