Blue Mesa Yellow Gold
« on: Jan 20, 2023, 07:37 PM »
A former co-worker and I found a good pod of perch at Blue Mesa today. We hit them in September on the boat, they were still there and brought their buddies. Steady bite all morning, slowed down some this pm. Best color chartreuse.Small jigs tipped with eye, mealies, waxies. Caught the 100th at 3 and left em biting at 18 fow. 50 keepers from 8-12.

Also caught 9 bows n 1 brown, kept 6. Will try pic again, about 60 of the ones we kept including 10 small ones for lake trout bait.

Good work I’ve been tearing the perch up there too. Just kill them all though only way to make sure they don’t get stunted. It sucks when you see a lake like Harvey gap where no one keeps the damn things and they are all 4 inches due to stunting..

If I ever do move from routt county, gunnison would be high on the list, just simply bc of blue mesa and the mule deer hunting.  Lotsa horses to shoe as well down there
