It is NOT nice out here... if I do get a shot it will need to be real short, because my stand is swaying all over the place.

Dang Z...if the wind down there is anything like it is up here, I'd have been launched out of my stand by now.

Good morning everyone

-4 with a WC of -15 making for a brisk morning, we may get to 15 later today. Now that the lakes are snow covered we get a shot of cold weather :cookoo:

mr.clean...Very nice of you to to make the drive an place a wreath on your families friends' grave

WW...Just what we needed on the 9:45.... The cookies looked GREAT!  Best of luck to Mr.WW today

Z...Best of luck getting a poke at one.

IW...Hope today is the day. Good luck!

Eddie...Best of luck to your Son today:thumbsup: Also good luck picking out a tree:thumbsup: We may do something we have never done here. Many local precut trees are pushing $100 and with the drought last year many of the trees are already turning brown ??? Unless we find a cut your own tree lot fairly close we may just forgo the tree this year.

h2l...Probably a good choice going with a new blower

Yesterdays shack run was fun. We made a pretty big loop looking at tracks. Unfortunately the last of the camera cards didn't offer much. The time frame was during the last few days of the gun season through the week after, very quiet. We pulled all the cameras except one.

Just stuffing the stove here today, nothing planned.

Hope everyone has a good Saturday:thumbsup: Best of luck to all the hunters or anyone finding ice

Also best wishes to those dealing with Covid.

 Stay safe and keep healthy.

It was in the 50's when I went to bed it is now 35* The wind is still howling, with upper 40 gusts.

Our Firearms gun season ended on the 30th with muzzy running from the 2nd through the 11th. Where my property and a strip of counties across the state' any firearm is allowed. Below these counties, it is straight-walled cartridges only. Why do the call it muzzy season as about anything goes.

The Michigan DNR seems to want the deer heard shot off. Years ago I ran into a guy on the NRC at a show. I asked him where the DNR was going to have the party. He said "What party?" I said the party when you get the deer all shot off. I told him where I hunted. He told me I had too many deer. I asked him if he ever hunted there. Of course he hadn't, so how did he know? With our new kill reporting it show that there have not been that many deer shot around my property.

Marv With those temps I would be staying inside except for rushing out and stoking the fire.

Dom We had to go to the Coast Guard station at Grand have a while back. It has changed a lot since I was there last. I was set up with my fur and trap display for their SusquaCentennial  It is nothing but big condo buildings along the road to the Coast Guard. The wife had to get her Military ID Renewed. They are working on the bridge again. What cluster trying to figure out what lane to be in to get across it.

Gave it up after a couple hours... didn't see squat other than a few birds and a nice sunrise. The wind is still clipping along at 25-30.

Good evening the weather guessers were correct my area did see rain in the morning break during the mid day hours and then another bout of rain in late afternoon. to follow up on two items I mentioned in my post yesterday.  Jacob deGrom did sign a 5 year deal with the Texas Rangers that will pay him 185 million dollars. This ends his 9 years of playing for the Mets I guess Texas believes Mr. degrom will be a benefit to their organization and willing to pay him 61 million per year in spite of him being injured the past two seasons and only playing a limited number of games each year. I could not find any follow up stories on the wall collapse at the Resorts World casino so assume there were no serious injuries. In other news from my area a Newburgh tattoo shop owner who now resides in Texas with his family but still owns the shop and made visits to check on business and work is facing sedition trail for his actions in the jan.6,2020 capital riot. His trail starts this Tuesday Dec. 7Th. The FBI did a raid which resulted in the arrest of ten members of the Young Gunnaz street gang on charges of racketeering, narcotics trafficking and gun related crimes.  Hopefully tomorrow's football game sees Newburgh winning the class AA title and brining some positive/feel good news to the city.
Eddie thank you for your kind words the family friend has two adult children and several now adult grandchildren. her daughter last I knew lived in Virginia and her son I believe lives on Long Island. My friend and her first husband owned a vacation home in the claryville area and attended the reformed church when in the area. I met her when she was remarried so had a different last name. The church dates back to 1849 and congregation built a social hall building across the road from the church in 1994. next to this sits the one room Claryville school house which operated from 1848 until 1957 . Like many churches it has seen a decline in membership and now shares a pastor with other reformed churches in the area.. May your son have filled one of the soe tags today. learned something from your post I thought Agway was out of business the one in my area of NY. closed several years ago .
Zcm-82 I commend for going out in the less then ideal conditions today .   may you get a chance at a deer during the muzzle loader season. Interesting to read all different hunting rules/regs. between different states thank you for sharing those that effect your region of IL .
Ice wanderer I commend you also   may you have harvested a deer today or had the chance to take a shot.
Hunts2long personally think getting a new snow blower is the right choice. just like me and getting a new computer could have paid $140 for update package from Microsoft but still would have 1 a 13 year old computer. If the family or Ladies decided to purchased a new Christmas tree wait for the post Christmas deals hopefully selection will not be to limited.
iceassin nice to see a post from you. Agree with your comment to Zcm-82 if I was in a tree stand in those conditions my motion sickness would be getting the best of me.
Whopper Stopper good the you have a large supply of seasoned firewood sure you will go through a fare amount of wood during the cold spell. It seems like weather/ mother Nature always throws us ice fisherman a curve every year with early season ice conditions or a blizzard during the season. I don't blame you for not paying the current prices from an already cut Christmas tree. may you find a tree farm close to you where you can cut your own tree.
Wallyworld hopefully Mr. WW had other snack items with him or could control himself and still had cookies left to enjoy at hunting camp. Best to him in filling his remaining tag/tags. I hope you saw no property damage from the high winds in your area.
Fish/hunt4ever sorry to hear you will be working through the weekend May you have the problems at plant resolved by Monday. Enjoy the Christmas party. may it have been a good day at the expo for your wife.
Tomturkey may you also not have received any property damage from the high winds in your area today.  thank you for sharing the MI. hunting rules/regs. I cans ee why you say you have to be a lawyer to understand them . If you are correct about the DNR's plan I'm surprised Michigan best know deer Hunter Ted Nugent has not rallied the hunting community  to oppose the plan . best to you, your son and grandson if hunting during the muzzle loader season

Keep safe ,stay healthy. have a good Sunday best to all fishing and hunting.

             Good morning ER's,
It's 28* and the wind is still blowing but not as bad as last night. We lost power a couple of times but for a short while. ::)
Again this gong to be a short post, as I'm going to head out for one more whack at it. Yesterday I got rained out about 9:30.

Good Morning Everyone,
Sitting right at 32* this am, WNW winds still blowing 15-20mph, high of 36 today.

Steve..one heck of a payday for Jacob deGrom…crazy money!  :woot:  Thank you for sharing the info on your friend and the history of the church, schoolhouse. Best wishes to the Newburgh team today bringing home the Championship!
Z..tough conditions for sure, good job hanging in there until enough was enough!
Tom.. thanks for sharing the hunting information, still scratching my head on the muzzle loader regulation’s, lol. Why not just extend the regular gun season until December 11th?  ;D  Hope all is well with you and the family Sir!
FH4…hope the Christmas party and expo both went well yesterday! Good luck with better results today and combatting job burnout…you’ve had a long week!
Wally…any good news from the hunting camp?  Yesterday was a good day for anyone owning a windmill…other than that, a good day for baking??  ;D
Marv…wow, some bitter temperatures out your way, was a good to be inside feeding the stove!  That’s pretty sad about the Christmas tree prices and the conditions of those that are for sale.  :cookoo:  Do you have any growing on your property at the Shack that might be worthy?
H2…best of luck on the lanes tonight! Sounds like a new snowblower is coming for Christmas this year.  ;D
Jeff..Good Morning and best of luck with today’s hunting! Keeping the fingers crossed you get one of those Adirondack bucks in your sights before the closing bell.  :flex:   My son knocked off the same time yesterday, rain and wind got the better of him also.
Dave/OG…hope you fellas are on the mend and feeling better today…best wishes are with you!

Couple messages from my son on stand yesterday were the winds and rain were brutal and nothing moving. He still hunted the last half hour through some pines and bedding areas but nothing seen. Maybe today will be a little better, at least it’s not raining….
Heading out for the Christmas tree this afternoon with most of the family…believe I’ll be breaking out my Predator jacket for today’s adventure.  ;D   Saw gas prices dropped down $.06 yesterday locally…$3.73gl…could have saved a whopping dollar twenty with a 20 gallon fill up, Merry Christmas to you to Joe… better leave it there!      Cawfee’s on…
Have a great day all, be safe, best of luck to those fishing/hunting!

31* and dark.

IW, good luck today. I give you credit for sticking it until 9:30 yesterday. It rained pretty hard.

Mr.C, good luck to the Newburgh team. Wife is going to keep an eye out for after Christmas sales for a new (smaller) tree.

Eddie, hope a deer finds your Son today. I know you will find a tree.

Not much planned for today. The wife and Amber went to a Christmas concert at one of the churches in the village yesterday, I did the floors.

Everyone have a good day and be safe....h2l

Tom I know.  My buddies out there tell me all about it..
One of them is a contractor and the work and money is unbelievable…
And they say downtown GR is a scary place with all the homeless people and addicts .  Pretty sad..
As far as the deer herd back in the early 80’s the only way to see a deer was to buy a pickup truck of sugar beets or carrots for  $25 and sit over a pile of it….😁

IW...Best of luck today, hope you see some venison

h2l...Excellent picture  Good luck tonight

Eddie...Best of luck to your son today  Not much at the shack to pick from for Christmas trees. My wife was scouring FB yesterday checking out tree farms. I never heard if she found anyplace worth checking out or not.

WW...Best of luck to Mr. WW today

Not a lot going on today. I will probably end up out in the garage puttering.

Hope you all have a good Sunday  Best of luck to anyone fighting the bug, on the ice or in the woods

What a buck, congrats to the hunter.

Well still not where the plant needs to be but better today after they lost the plant last night. See what it is tomorrow after my coworker gets numbers. But I got another double time day and about 18 hours of ot. So Christmas money, or wait the side by side is in and we are getting it the 14th when we are over for the wife's check up and then she has surgery again on the elbow the 16th so she won't get much riding in for awhile. Well headed home to maybe chase some pheasants around have a good Sunday

Good evening ,sunny day hear with a high temperature in the mid. forties. I took advantage of the nice weather and made the trip to Paramus ,NJ. placed the wreath on my one grand parents grave and put flowers my other grand parents. parents and some other relatives niches. Very crowded with people did see a new to me grave decoration a few graves had small fake Christmas  trees on them instead of the traditional wreath, cross or grave blanket. Mixed news on the football games. disappointment for us newburgh fans Bennett took the game opening kick off return in for a touch down and took advantage of some mistakes by Newburgh to have a 3- to 0 lead heading towards half time. Newburgh scored it's only touch down and two point conversion late in the second quarter. Newburgh's head coach said we could not make the mistakes we did today and expect to win a state title. (two fumbles with loss of possession and two interceptions0 It will be interesting to see how the team preforms next year loosing 19 players to graduation. Newburgh finished with a (10-3) record . Bennett also had the advantage of majority of their players having played in the 2021 state title game a loss to Carmel. Newburgh beat Carmel in a quarter final game this year to advance and eventually make it to the state title games. overall the past 11 years have been good for Newburgh's program this was the third appearance in title game  previous ones were in 2011 and 2014.  O'Neill fans spent today rejoicing after the team beat general -Brown 29-14 for the class c title . the first in O'Neill's history. So I'm happy to settle for one team from my area of NY. being a state football champion.
Ice Wanderer may you have harvest a deer today and not have to go out with the muzzle loader or wait for the holiday season 9between Christmas and New Years Day )
Eddie good to hear gas prices dropped some in your area. may you have found the "perfect" tree and have had a good afternoon with your family. I hope your son harvested a deer today to fill the doe tag.
hunts2long may you and your teammates be having or have had a good night at the alley .  thank you for the well wishes for Newburgh football team. hope we make a fourth appearance in title game before this decade ends and come home with the title. Congratulations again to your nephew, brother and you on your deer.  glad  Amber and your wife enjoyed the local Christmas concert. may your house floors be sparkling hope you remember your navy mop training. best to your wife on finding a tree she likes at a good price.
Raquettedacker thank you for the photos congratulations to your buddy's SIl  a true trophy buck with a typical set of antlers. many times when a buck has that many antler points the antlers are non-typical . If you have a muzzle loader license may you get your deer before that season ends.
Whopper Stopper may the cold spell end soon so you do not have to tend to the wood stove all day. may your wife have found a cut your own Christmas tree farm during her internet searches.
Wallyworld guess my county/area of Ny. is not as rural as it was in the past though my town has a Tractor Supply store that was built in the last ten years.
Zcm-82 sorry to read the deer by you are still in hiding. may you see more activity during the muzzle loader season.
fish/hunt4ever may you aim have been true and you harvest a couple pheasants today after work.  Sorrry to hear problems continue at work Keep up the positive attitude may things change this week for the better. Good to read your side by side has arrived at the dealer. best wished for your wife with her elbow surgery.
Iff happy you had a safe problem free trip home to TN. may you figure out the problem with the chain saw and get it running.
