NOCO front range saugers
« on: Jan 05, 2022, 04:03 PM »
Headed out to a local lake North of town before the storm came in and ended up scoring some dinner, all were 14-15". My first eyes on the ice! Pretty excited about that.

A few trout came through the hole as well. Ice was clear and hard 3" everywhere I looked. Caught all off bottom in 20 feet of water and most were a really soft bite. Had the lake all to my own this morning, always nice when that happens. Gonna try and get back there with some live bait while the lid holds.

Those look like Sauger or saugeye. Probably not your first walleye through the ice yet

Only from certain bodies of water.  There is not a statewide minimum length for walleye/sauger/saugeye.
Tight lines!

Guess I need to brush up on my warmwater ID. Sauger tastes pretty darn good I must say! Even better that now I caught one first and have another to go on the ice.

Big Ol' nope on the private, this is public water in the area. Hardly any holes from what I saw and this cold weather makes me happy. ;D
