North Pole revisited
« on: Jan 25, 2021, 09:54 PM »
I know Waterlike, Ronco, Troutstalker, and Slayer know this place...because I have been there with them.  No ATV ride this time...thank the Lord we could take Subaru.  Well they got snow, making it harder...but we caught fish.  I had one of those bad luck days where I lost a ton of trout at the hole - and missed a lot of hits.

Have we driven out on the ice or still on land?  Turns out ICE!

A newby finds a spot

My take.  The others were first timers and caught a couple each but no photos.

Nice fish. I’m guessing that road in was a little dicey.

Nice, Shoe!  Yeah, that road/ice/snowbank/whiteout looks a little dicey.   ;)  But looks like you found some great table fare.

That was my exact experience, too.  Finally found the eyes in 7' of water at noon.  Almost didn't need to reel.  If only I had found them at 9 am.  :'(  I have a hand auger; and with 18" of ice, I didn't drill many holes to explore.

bassman - weather got very pleasant in the afternoon - cleared off - calm - almost got to freezing.  Now I need to take a 7" knife to those fish...
Slayer - warm and windy Thursday.  Hope you can get to your spot with drifts beginning this week.

Good thing the ice is 18" or else the whiteout wrong turn could have been costly. Glad to see you got into the eyes.

Met the Slayer brothers there today.  Beautiful day - no problem staying off the ice.  Lots of fun.  I'll wait for Slayer's post - they are staying the night and hitting it tomorrow, too.
