Where is the serial number located ? FTR my buddies were both sharp ..not sure what the actual issue is/was ..after he added/replaced the included blades ..he was off to the races .

Ok will keep any eye on it. There was a bag in the box with a manual and a cardboard index card with a serial number on it. Went to web and registered so I guess it worked. Don’t see any number on the auger itself.

I did not look at all the specs of the whole kit ..but most are probably brushed ..you really have to look at each peice of the 2pc and up kit ..Dewalt loves to mix and match batteries..and brushed and brushless.

Most cordless tools are built in the same factory (TTI), and use the same types of cells inside the pack. The cells change over time, and you can generally get better performance with each generation.
At least with Ridgid, they make everything compatible, and you can use the same tool with newer and newer batteries. That is especially important if you buy Ridgid for the lifetime warranty. I have had a Ridgid 3/8 inch drill since they were sold with 18V NiCad batteries. The batteries died, and they gave me new batteries and a new charger. Drill kept working. Drill switch died, they replaced it. After almost 20 years, the gearbox locked up, and they took it for repair. Kept it a long time, and finally had to admit they lost it, so Home Depot gave me a new 3/8 inch drill kit with case, battery and charger.
My only point is that the strategy is to get you invested in a certain system, and then keep you from ever switching. That is no forever guarantee, but I have seen them keep things working for a long time.

HD is selling the new MAX batteries, only 2 and 4 AH that I can see, and the previous generation is on as good a sale as I have seen- (2) 4 AH for $99. I can not see how much more peak current the new cells produce, but I am using the old ones on an Octane 1300 Hammer drill, and have no problems with a 6 in Pistol bit.

It seems the larger "MAX" packs are not available yet.

I also would like another 9AH Octane pack, but I have not seen one for at least a year. I started out looking for another deal with a charger for $99, like I got last time, but I think that time has past.
