skimmer fish
« on: Feb 13, 2015, 01:06 PM »
When fishing on bottom .Be careful don't turn your back on your traps or your fellow fishermen. Or the next flag will be a Skimmer fish. They do fight hard and shake terribly .  Most are keepers.

Unless it looks familiar I always cut the leader without taking it out of the water....once or twice and the skimmer-fish have left me alone

Haha, skimmer fish! Very heavy but not great eating! A little bit of a metallic taste...

Hunted with a guy a few years ago. Last week of muzzleloading. A small buck came right up to him. POP! One of his buddies at camp unloaded his gun for him. The buck just walked away fast. :woot: :roflmao:
