Headed to Granby
« on: Jan 30, 2015, 05:51 PM »
Headed up to hunt Lakers tomorrow. I have a couple places I have done well in the past but wanted to try around the pump station. Just on foot so was wondering if 1)there is access to the shoreline from the roads shown on map and 2) can we access the ice from there or is it that steep rip rap rocks.
Thanks

Lots of the shoreline is steep rocky rip rap but there are easy places to get on the ice. Sunset point and Dike 3 have easy access. With the water being high the trek is much easier than normal to get from the road to the ice.

You can access the pump house area from the road behind it. There are a couple of small lots just off that road but the Arapahoe forest pass(or whatever it is) still has to be displayed there. Don't ask how I know. The hike is still a surprisingly long one even from there. Mile or more hike but the shores on that side weren't too bad even last year with lower water. Goodluck and tag a biggun!
Selective harvest works!
