Was fishing for lakers today and tested out a new Fenwick Aetos 30" medium heavy ice rod. I had my doubts about the pole because of the tip being so soft. Great for seeing the bite but just soft. After the first 3" it goes to some heavy backbone. I honestly thought the pole would break right where it gets stiff. Well I hooked a good 33" laker with it and it performed flawlessly through the 15 minute fight. Could not ask for more in a pole to use inside a hut.
