Lakes near Glenwood Springs, Co
« on: Jan 10, 2010, 08:53 AM »
Are there any lakes to fish near Glenwood Springs, besides Harvey Gap and Rifle Gap. First winter in CO. Also where can I find Wax worms? Harvey has been good so far, just want to try new places. Thanks.

I get all my mealies & waxies at petco. Ruedi is just up the road from Basalt, it's pretty good for lakers. Sweetwater and Sylvan are both decent for trout.

Avery Lake east of Meeker is good for rainbows and cuttbows.

I've found Mr. T's in New Castle is the best place around here to get bait.  They have a great selection of lures, too.  Timberline, in Rifle (corner of 3rd & Railroad), has some stuff, too.  Now, get back with me, because I live in Rifle and I need someone to go fishing with.

I'd love to fish Trappers Lake or Deep Lake at the edge of the FlatTops Wilderness. Vega Res. is supposed to be good. Or check out the lakes on the Grand Mesa.
