How thick is the ice? - Dumb Question.

Very interesting to read all the posts demanding, “How thick is the ice?”  When all you fish is Lake trout by the Canadian border, and season opens on January 1 - that question is irrelevant. Ice is always 20 inches+ and never an issue.

Learning lots reading what happens further south.

That's the same fricking question every single person on Facebook asks. Here's your answer, scroll up and read the reply to where your exact same question was answered 3 minutes ago if it's below freezing all the time and not 60 degrees in the day time, the ice isn't going anywhere until spring.

I really get a chuckle from the guys that walk all the way over to ask about the ice  with no spud or safety equipment..... Usually when I answer they run for shore

A couple years ago we had 2 conservation officers walk about 200 yards out to check on us. One asked how thick the ice was. I replied "every bit of 2 inches" Should have seen the look on their faces!
