Post storm bite
« on: Feb 18, 2018, 07:05 PM »
Took my daughter out for some jigging at a local pond. She does not like to fish no matter how hard I try.  I planned this trip a week in advance and had to persuade her. Shes never jigged with electronics actually shes never jigged at all. I had a spot that was producing  well early ice and took her right to it. It wasnt long before they showed up. Managed 9 fish. Tried to let her do it all. Saw lots on the graph but 9 was plenty for her. Crappies blue gills and a nice LMB all on 2lb test with waxies.

Keep at it Wayne... its the time with dad that will be what she is going for - fish and fishing just a bonus.

Mine is 26 now and though she doesn't fish on her own, she will still make a trip out with me when time permits, sounds all the traps and will pull in any flag she can get to (I have to bait and remove the hook still, but some day!)

Nice job

Good times.
The only way I get mine out is if the ice is skateable. Its my only selling point, she couldn't be bothered with the fish.
The boys are all yeehaw so 2 outta 3 ain't bad. ;)

my nephew was very gung ho about fishing when he was younger and I essentially had to catch the fish for him. He now is diagnosed with mild autism so not much keeps his interest other than minecraft and computer stuff and legos. I guess he's also a 12 year old boy but I can't say I'm not disappointed. I think we should all try at least, because we can't force the kids to share our interest but keeping them interested in being outdoors and caring for the environment is worth it!
