Most of the time you can't go wrong with a red and white, fire tiger is also one of my go to decoys. Last year gold was a very good choice for me too. My best fish last year come in to a green silver pearl Cisco decoy I carved at the end of season. It pays to have different decoy for different days and the moods of the fish.

 Red/White is good. Each body of water is different.
 Water clarity is a factor pertaining to color choice.
 Bright/fluorescent in murky/stained water, or low light conditions. More natural colors in clear water, generally works for me.
 Not saying that bright colors won't work in clear water.... Pike are naturally curious critters anyways.
 Nice to have a different assortment along.
 Don't be afraid to experiment with different sizes/lengths also.

One of my favorites is a natural colored northern decoy I have. It was my first decoy and it has plenty of teeth marks in it.
