Has anybody scouted the ice conditions on any of the lakes in Cass county?  Also St. Joseph county?  With the temps getting down to the single digets at night, their may be some fishable lakes soon.

Hi,
I just got done cleaning a nice bucket full of gills. I live in St joe county, and I checked Thompson Lk. it was not even completly froze yet. Then I drove past a channel on Omena lk and a couple guys were fishing. Then I drove to the public access of Prarie lk., walked out and found maybe 2", I took a rod, spud, bucket and my Vex. That is all I needed I had my limit and was sorting within an  1 1/2 hours, a couple real nice ones.
I'll try and let you know about some other lakes in the county later this week.
Nothing makes a fish bigger than almost being caught.

Thanks trhunter1....If I hear anything I will let ya know.  I might just have to make a trip up your way if the ice conditions don't change SOON.

Any of you guys ever fish Juno?  I saw something about Eagle.  I fish a lot on Coverdale, but that one takes awhile for safe ice.  I haven't been yet this year, and would like to try and get out this weekend.  Got my Vex, rods, and jigs ready, just need to find some safe ice.  Haven't checked any lakes yet.  I also fish Lagrange area as well.

Most places have at least 2-3 solid inches some areas have 3-4. Fished marina at St. Clair on Sun, 4 good inches of ice.

I checked out Pleasant in Edwardsburg.  Partially open in the deep end.  Then I went by Eagle.  The whole lake is iced over but never saw anyone out on the ice.  The channel on the East end of Eagle(across the road) must of had 20-30 people on it.  Went to Zimmy's Long and it still has open water out in the middle.  Little Baldwin across from Long is mostly open.  Went by the north end of Indiana Lake and it is wide open.  It looks like this year might be the year of the channels.  Keep the reports coming....

Literally a couple hundred guys out on Anchor bay this am. Can't report on fishing is, but ice is better everyday. Had a buddy (240lbs) go through by SANG on Sunday. Best ice is NE corner by the raft, Palms road is significantly better since my last post. Should be good ice all around by this weekend. Avoid current though, Even shallow areas have stayed mostly open when there was a current coming through. I personally fished an Oakland co lake this past weekend and the ice was 3", but good and hard, no bowing or bending. Still, it's first ice, use
your heads (guess my buddy shoulda read this lol) and keep spudding ahead of you!
This Sat is supposed to be warmer in the day, so don't trust it on the way back to the car, keep checking! Good luck!

Hey guys....BE CAREFUL on Big Silver near Dexter. I reported on another thread on this forum, that it had some sketchy ice near the island going into the back bay. A crack formed sometime since I had gotten out there going from the island out across the main lake for a few hundred yards. I usually pay no mind to a little water seeping through, but as I stepped over the crack I noticed the ice moving a good inch....very unnerving to say the least. Once in the back bay it had a solid 3 to 4 inches.
Anyhow, sorry about the late report seeing as I found all this out on Monday. But I did post it on Monday on the other thread.

Spent the day on Townline Lake yesterday in Montcalm county. 4" - 5" of solid clear ice. A couple guy's were out on ATV's. Gills were moving slow but nearly every single one that came on camera was biting. We brought home 9 keepers between my wife and I. Saw one guy pull one pike over 30" out nearby.
A great day in the shack!

How is the eye fishing up there? A friend of mine and I almost made a trip up there three or four years ago but on the way up, we ended up cruising over to the Saginaw River. I was wondering if you could give me some info on the fishing conditions, my dad and I were going to make a trip SOMEWHERE to run into some eyes. I live in Stockbridge and fish alot of local lakes. A few of the lakes have walleyes around here but they aren't a dominant species. I fish Kentsington Lake alot in early spring and do pretty good trolling, but I've yet to find them over the ice. Appreciate it if you could give me some info. Thanks.

I sure wish the lakes here in S. Central Michigan had good ice.  Some lakes still don't have any ice at all and others are open in the middle.

Papermouth,...I live in Elkhart Indiana, but do most of my fishing in Cass county Michigan and St. Joseph county Michigan, but the way the weather has been, am willing to travel a little further just to get on some ice..

Plenty of ice in the marinas around the Detroit River.  Lake Erie metroparks has ice in the marina... a little spongy, but it has walkable ice.  I fished a ton, but got skunked on all baits everywhere.  Going to try St. Clair tomorrow.

I fish the Irish Hills area often and I am curious about other lakes that might have good fishing this time of year. I Currently fish on a private lake in that area with little pressure but I am looking for something that also has the capability to produce good sized papermouths and gills. I've tried Sand Lake and have had decent success there. Any other ideas?

I tried a private lake in Northern Ohio on Saturday. Had to stay close to the shore because the ice was making some creepy sounds, you know the kind that pucker up your butt hole. Pretty slow day, only caught 5 in 5 hours.

5-6" on Lake Ovid (Sleepy Hallow State Park) and Round Lake in Clinton County.  Not much in the way of fish getting caught there last weekend...but none the less, there was ice.  Even a moron kid on an ATV racing around the east end of Round.  I was waiting to do a open water rescue.  Those pics would have been sweet for my journal.   ;)  Just kidding.

So this must be the weekend that the State turns hot with action, hey?
