 anybody fish austin lake near k-zoo.if so how is it and what is there. heard good gills.

I can't tell you anything other than its shallow. I don't think it gets over 12' in any one spot.

it's a huge lake with a lot of water to cover when there aren't much for dropoffs and such

Haven't fished it in any way in many years. Large, shallow, weedy bowl type lake. Good Musky, Bass and Pike lake with some decent panfish that seemed hard to find consistantly, dinks were everywhere. There are some more tradtional type lakes in the area that are easier to figure out.

...Muskie were planted in the lake...DNR does not permit tips-ups. The perch are in 8-10 ft of water. There are weeds at that depth. Easy to find...only place anybody fishes...just go to the shanty's.

 I take it they don't allow the tip-ups because of the muskie? I tried to fish it once this last summer but the launch was a joke for my lund. No way I was going to get that thing into the water. But at least the dock was in the water which is more than I can say for long lake.

....the pike and muskie season closes Nov 30 on Austin, West and Crooked Lakes..thats why no tip ups.  The follwong link has details
