I Fish pro setup help
« on: Jan 02, 2022, 08:10 AM »
I just got into the I fish game late last season.  I setup my 30" dead stick with 8 pound Clam frost to a barrel swivel to6 pound flouro then a split shot a couple feet up from a size 8 treble. I got a few hammer handle pike but no eyes.  Any suggestions on how I should modify my set up?  I am still trying to figure out this method as I suck at hook sets with a tip up.  Open to any and all information.  Thanks for the help and good luck this season.

;D Heh fish guy you may try this. Go to a mustad hook in sizes 2,4,or 6 single hook, depending on bait size. Ok, when the fish starts spooling out line wait until the fish stops taking line, then gently tighten up until you feel weight, then firmly set the hook. You don't have to try and rip it's head off. Make sure your hook is razor sharp and you should see improvement in your catch rate.  ;D

I always wait until they are running before setting the hook. You can't put too much pressure on those tiny trebles either. Add a small willow leaf blade above the split shot.
Loads of info in the tip up threads. New and old
