Hey Trapper. If the perch taste better you'd better give me all your walleye.  :woot: :woot: :woot:

Trapps is right given a choice I’d eat a perch over an eye , not that hand picked 15.5-17”eyes arent bad I eat my share of those 🍽

Those eyes got off easy this winter! It was a great year for sure. I am ready to do it all over again.

I prefer to call it the spring break not the end.  We take a little break from fishing walleye to give them a rest and in about 1-1/2 months we are back at them.  I look foreword to opening day in May when several of my friends and I get together for Walleye Weekend.  Hopefully the Walleye bite will be on for the opener.

Yeah the boat is ready to go this year (new last spring), can't wait! I've been on a 3 week break from ice fishing due to bad ice conditions and a heavy work load. But with this new cold snap I'm going to go check my March perch hole. Missed the March bite the last 2 years and feared it was over early again. Now if the snow will knock off and settle.

Had a great time on close waters chasing 'eyes on Whitney Point this year. I have historically been just a perch guy that went north to find them but decided to try my luck at WP and had a blast. Met some new buddies (yup, ran into bigal a few times ;D) and always managed to catch and keep a few. Definitely looking forward to getting out in the boat in May to chase them again. Thanks for all the pointers, tips, and camaraderie guys. Hope to see you out there again soon!!  :)
The hardest part of ice fishing is casting!

Early to bed, early to rise
fish all day and make up lies!

Always sad to see march 15 come .... I usually take the day off and fish all day but have been plowing and shoveling snow all week .... Was a great year for sure .... I agree with trapper about perch being tastier than walleye, however the challenge of catching walleye and the unique way they bite will always make them my favorite fish .... By the way I prefer bluegill for table fare over walleye and perch  ;D time to get after the panfish now ....

Always hate to see the end of walleye season and ice season come to an end. I look forward to a fresh start to the season and enjoy opening weekend with some good buddys though. Then it’s on to jigging the summer away with Freddie and Shane which is always a hoot!  Next thing ya know it’s time to fling arrows at deer and shore casting in the fall and waiting for ice up....then repeat  ;D

Did an ice check at favorite spot and the ice is toast. Just to much snow on top of rotten ice kept the cold from working its magic. Checked on a couple other lakes near by on the drive home, same story, that put a fork in it for me.

We still have over a foot of ice in a few bays .... The problem is most places have weak spots and standing water on the edges and the old holes are huge and covered with heavy snow now ..... Had a friend get wet yesterday scared him pretty bad, he picked a bad spot to get on the ice at the boat launch should have known better ....
