Thinking of heading out tomorrow for the first time.
-
I was there on Thursday about 2.5 to3 inches of ice about 30 yards out from boat launch
-
It wasn't frozen over last weekend, but looked like it was on Tuesday. Someone had gone out and chipped a few small holes by the dam, it didn't look to be overly thick yet. I'd probably give it another week.
-
I was there today. 2-4 inches this morning and melting fast. The fishing was very slow. My biggest perch was almost 6 inches. I think I'll try somewhere farther north in the morning. Great to get out on the ice again! Tight lines!

Hey guys.. Newbie to the forum.. I live in Milton, any word on colchester pond?
Drove out to fairfield pond today.. 8 inches of good ice.. Caught some keeper perch but it was pretty slow..
-
It's fishable, plenty of ice to fish. I'd guess it will probably be a slow bit on Saturday with the rain expected tomorrow though.

Yea.. Its close to home though. So if it's too bad then I can pack up and had somewhere else..

I might poke out there Saturday morning if the weather looks ok, because it’s definitely close.

Did you get out there? How was it looking?
-
6-7" of solid black ice, with little to no action. I have a feeling the water is pretty stirred up. With the temps dropping, it ought to be in fantastic shape in a day or two.
-
Fishing for northern or perch?
Suppose to be cold tonight.. Thinking about heading there or Fairfield pond inn Monday
-
Just saw on one of the Facebook groups that colchester technical rescue had to pull someone out there today. No details
-
I saw someone hiking right down the middle toward the north end when I was leaving, I'd bet it was probably that guy. The southern half is very fishable.
-
I can confirm that someone fell through colchester today. And yes it was towards the northern half.

Last thing I heard he was talking in the back of the ambulance
-
Was there fishing yesterday. Seemed like a bit of confusion all around... but from what the firefighters and witnesses told us, I think the person fell through on the far eastern edge, but definitely the southern side, not the northern!
-
Like up against the cliffs? Was it a fisherman?
-
There is a stream and warm springs over there. Dangerous spot. Glad they made it out ok.
-
Has anyone been out there in the last day or so? My niece has been dying to fish and I’d love to take her out if the the ice is safe this weekend
-
Someone went in a week ago. I would advise cation. Especially with a little one.
-
Anyone have a condition report? Possibly going out tomorrow or Saturday if conditions allow..
-
It was in good shape Monday, I have to think by Saturday it will be in great shape. Whether or not the Pike want to play is another matter.
-
Thanks.. Hoping to snag a few perch.. Not a huge tip up fisherman! I tend to fall asleep waiting on those flags!!
-
Got out there today for a few hours.. Actually got into the perch pretty good! On the smaller side, but a big school.. Ran out of light and had to get home anyways but what a blast!

is there a lot of snow on the ice?

is there a lot of snow on the ice?
There was a decent amount.. Probably 6" bit there is a slushy layer between the snow and ice which makes walking a little more difficult..
