Convert nanook to nanook xl

I currently have an older nanook, and the canvas is in poor shape. I’d like to gain the extra size of a nanook xl.
Is the only difference between the 2 that the xl has longer poles? What I’m thinking of doing is buying some galvanized pipe to make my poles a bit longer. Then I’d get a replacement thermal xl canvas. Should work right?
Or am I missing something?
Has anyone done anything like this?

Use EMT electrical conduit for poles
It's lighter & bendable
For supports, flexible fiberglass tent poles can be p/u at HF or TSC.
With the $$ & time involved, It might be cheaper for a new one.
