Okuma Avenger ABF Baitfedeer Reel
« on: Jan 09, 2022, 09:17 AM »
Picked up a couple of the Okuma Avenger ABF-1000 bait feeders last year for my pike dead stick rods. Mated them to a St.Croix Premier MH 32” & an H 32” jigging rod. I can’t say enough about these inexpensive reels. Caught a few decent Pike last year on them & boy it’s a lot of fun. For a 60$ reel it’s pretty nice. Anyone else try these out?

Yes, I got one a couple years ago and I've had a blast deadsticking rainbows.  My only gripe is that I wish the bait clicker offered even less resistance. The lowest setting still requires a decent amount of pulling force.  I don't think it would work very well for lighter biting fish, like crappie.

I agree I have my bait feeder drag backed all the way down to the most sensitive setting but again I’m fishing for Pike and Bass so they work pretty good for that. Other than that only time will tell how they hold up from year to year.

Agree with above...I dont even use the bait feeder unless its very windy, otherwise open bail for my Finicky Foolers.
