Just ran across this lure and was wondering if anyone has experience with them. Do they draw fish in as advertised?

Did you see the video with a good explanation and demo ?

Looks like you could draw them in real good once you got them on the hook! :-)
-
I think they are new this year . I may pick up 1 or 2 and give them a try . If they don't work you could hang I to the Christmas tree it would fit right in on there .
-
Ha, good one, maybe remove that treble or let the doctor, well, never mind that. LOL :woot:
They were out for about a year now. I just received a couple. They sound like an orchestra subtly calling fish to come check it out.
-
They look easy enough to make; I'm not dropping 4.99 or whatever on something that simple. You can get those dropper chains from proscandinavia, and probably other sources too. I already have some. I would switch the hook out for a single as well.

At times, looks can be deceiving. Do please let the rest of us know where and what you find for those small discs. Thanks. ;)2
We thank you for all those many years of modifications you have found to be more productive than what Lindy's many thousands invested in the development of their products, prove to be better. Please, share with us lessor able folks. Again, Thanks.

I've searched high and low for the metalic colored beads as well as the discs. Not available to the best of my knowledge. I'll gladly drop $4.25 (FishUSA) for something that will move fish in to take a look. My arsenal is already to the point that I shake my head....whats another 20 or 30 bucks!

super easy build , like you im not paying 5 bucks

jewelry suppliers have them beads cheap and as many as you want , all shapes and sizes
-
The good beads may be a little more spendy, but well worth the extra coin(s). More facets equal more attracting. Look at some Swarovski crystal beads in 6mm to 8mm. The odd item to find, if you're gonna make something similar to a Perch Talker, is the discs, I truly wish you all the luck in the world finding those. ;)2
-
I may try a couple. What does everyone tip theirs with?

Looks like a lure making cup washer.

You may find it an easier search by calling them "cupped discs". Well, it worked for me. ;)2
-
The phrase " lure making cup washer " takes you right to it in google search. ;)2

I don't really believe the exact shape of the cupped discs is going to make a big difference; though they certainly are eye catching to the consumer. I just ordered some red glass discs from one of my my wife's on line jewelry suppliers at 5 cents a piece. I'll use gold beads (brass) which is the same combo (glass and brass) they use for clacker rigs usually associated with bass fishing. Meanwhile still waiting for ice.... :P
-
For me, I would want all the components made from brass or plated steel. I need all the weight I can get to rapidly return down 45 + feet deep where I typically perch fish.

Thanks Dustr. ;)2
That's the one combination of words I didn't try. :o

Sequins available at dollar stores, Michaels hobby, craft stores.
Been using them on my walleye rigs(spinners and lindy riggin) for a lot of years.
Small bead ahead of the hook and the cupped sequin ahead of the bead so it gives a little wobble.(secrets out now).
Beads can be plastic, brass, glass or tungsten for different fall rates.

Caught some perch on the gold colored one yesterday.

My first attempt; didn't have appropriate wire so used what I could find. 6mm glass disc from my wife's jewelry supplier (5 cents each). Brass beads and cones from my fly tying supplies. This sucker is loud; really it's just a small clacker rig as used for bassing. Now if only I had some ice to try it out..... :(

That's a beauty Van ! We're in the same boat (pun), no dang ice. :%$#!:
-
I didn't like using coated wire but that's what I had. Doubt it will matter if it draws in fish and they are hungry, though. Some of our lake to the North are starting to fish but heavy rain and warm weather is coming for Christmas over most of the state. Yuk!!
-
The hardware may slide better on the coated wire, hm, more noise.

Now I feel like a visionary....
Back in '90 or '91 I worked for a local tackle store. We weren't far from Madison and one of the items in big demand was a "Mendota Rig". This was really little more than a thick wire (looked like a piece of coat hanger) about 9" long, pounded/pressed flat on each end with holes drilled and a couple split rings and a swivel. The intention was to get down into the 40+ FOW as quickly and stealthily as possible, a glorified sinker really, line to one end and lure/bait dangling off the other.
We tried to replicate these things but need a LOT of coat hangers and pretty labor intensive to boot. I was heavy into making single strand musky leaders at the time so I started fooling around with options, one which you see pictured below. Tough sells at first but after not too long had many repeat customers that seemed to buy many more than they could use. Either they were laying in a stock or reselling as we were the only supplier of stuff like that. Those that liked 'em swore that the noise they made when jigged increased their catches.
The beads are free to move and make noise, the sinker is anchored by a piece of vinyl tubing that covers the twist at the eye in the wire and slips over the nose of the weight. A smaller piece of tubing covers the twist at the top of the rig.

Also recently made up a few similar to Van_Cleavers rig to attach to spoons when jigging for pike. Jury's still out on that....... I need ice.

But do they catch fish?
-
they must be good there sold out ???
-
I used one this weekend and caught 1 nice perch on it. I don't think they do much talking though!

I'm guessing you haven't listened with an underwater device.
Seeing perch react to the Lindy Perch Talker is believing ~ Let it down slowly to the bottom and maybe have a couple look and back off. Lift it up a foot and several may notice. Now, give it a shake and perch 10' away turn toward it and begin coming in, alas, the 1st one in eats it. Every time. ;)2
-
do you got any video love see it at work :-\
-
I was on clear, shallow 4 FOW, looking down at it all.
I should record all my life and put select out-takes here.
More equipment to buy, ha. ;)2
-
maybe the difference is 48 foot of water. I was fishing 52 feet deep whereas you were 4 foot deep. Can't argue with your results though!
-
It's a rough year for ice, only the bays have frozen and limited access to those. :'(
-
They sure don't talk to any perch in my area???
