I was at Killarney last Friday the 25th. It was 90% capped with an inch to inch and a half of ice. This week should help and maybe the chain lakes will be fishable this year.

I have caught catfish on tip-up with perch meat.  If I were to target them I use a thumb nail sized rainbow colored spoon with one red hook and a stinger treble to which I add a long slim piece of perch meat with skin on.

A Sagle area update.

A lot of snow obviously so be careful out there. Things can change in a step, but this is what I saw today.

Round had 3 clear with a layer of water and frozen slush on top. Still broke through that top layer. This was between the docks. Off the dock it was less clear, but I didn’t step off

Shepherd is a small amount of clear, under an inch. The rest slush. Probably over 5” total. Definitely a no go. And the road hasn’t been plowed but 4wd would be fine.

Gamlin had about 3” maybe 1.5 clear then A water layer and froze slush.

I didn’t fish anything today. May hit round tomorrow, with the cold temps tonight maybe it will firm up.

Upper twin 2-3” with 4” slush on top. Inconsistent thickness on different areas around the dock. Lower twin 1.5” cloudy ice.

Thanks for report.   Was wondering about round an Avondale.   Sounds like round should be ready soon.

5+ on freeman but perch are stunted-constant fish but all 2-6" not sure what happened I was catching keepers this feb/march.  Went to Blue in the afternoon.  4 " black with 2" white ice and a slush layer in between and about 10" of snow on top.  Fish were spread out managed 1 crappie and 2 keeper perch.

Nothing on Priest Lake.  It will be awhile before it’s iced over.

Cocolalla Update North End Sportsmans

The first 35 yards off shore that froze early has about 1" clear and 5" total.  Past that I found a touch under 3" clear that decreased to under 2" of clear ice in about 6 steps.  Right now theres a dusting of snow on top and you are able to see the difference between the good stuff and the bad.  Snow is on the way and it won't be the case soon so be safe out there.

I fished what I could closer to shore.. about 5 FOW with no luck.

Long range forecast is very favorable for making ice.  Single digits at night on the horizon for the Panhandle.....if it doesn't change.
