Hey guys hope I’m not that guy, coming from out of state, have until Sunday to cancel Airbnb. Will be first time fishing GSL, any updates on ice conditions on the lake? Hoping to be there the 15-16th.

Great screen name lol. Are you Mike's son Carter's friend?

Nice fish, first ice is great.
If fishing is a sport are we considered athletes?

Awesome fish man! I probably don’t know anyone you guys know, unfortunately I’m from mass. Thanks for the report, look like some nice walleye that will be a new species for me, don’t have many of those in MA but looking forward to it!

Looking for info on the state boat launch on north shore road. Is it open for access? If so how is the ice on this part of the lake? A previous post said 5-6 on most of the lake. I’ve only fished out of that launch open water. Thanks

Tip ups, put a medium shiner about a foot off bottom and fish last couple hours of light and 1st couple hours of dark. Biggest mistake is rushing to pull a tip up that got hit, let them eat.  I give them 3 or 4 min before messing with the tip up. Try to set hook too soon, you will lose 8 out of 10 fish.

Northampton had decent ice all of the areas i checked for the most part this past week. However, the south end I’m the further out I’d try,the spud was going through in one or two hits so I had to turn around. Was hoping someone that’s been out the last few days could even pm me if it’s gotten a little thicker in any southern areas, even such as broadalbin etc? I always spud and know the lake well, just trying to get an idea of what I’ll be walking into. Appreciate any help.

Hey pikemnan. Thanks for the info on Northhampton area. Heading that way Thursday. Kind of new to the lake and  want to try around Beacon Island some time as it is a little closer for me. After tonight and tomorrow night is would be surprising if the South end does not lock up as well. Good luck and let us know. Thanks again RPudney for your info.

Yep hoping for the same. The area I checked towards the southern end definitely wasn’t very safe yet the last week, ice varied big time. Hope to hear something by the weekend.

Has anyone been out of Wally's yet? Sounds like you all are saying the southern end is a little sketchy the weather the next 2 days can put a few inches on really quickly though. Maybe I'll try and take a drive down tomorrow 🤔.

The other day there was okay ice in close, but the further you went out, there was as little as an inch in some spots with the spud before turning around. It’ll all depend what this cold does I guess. NorthHampton was the only consistent ice I found that was actually decent.

My son and I are heading up this way tomorrow for business meeting on Friday.  Never fished gsl, but love chasing walleye, perch and gills.  Only have Saturday to fish as I live 8 hrs away. I understand low light for the eyes, but curious if this lake has perch and gill bite. Not looking for Anyones spot, but maybe some general info, depths , etc. thanks in advance.

I think your referring to town of day ramp lakes narrow that way and has some current I second north hampton or sports pub until you get more familiar with the lake to start venturing around that arm of the lake always usually freezes first

Thanks hardwater, yes town of day, I am familiar with the current in that part of the lake and will give it more time before I go check it.

Good work Pete, I also fished gsl yesterday I caught one pike 24 inches, my cousin got a 12 inch walleye,a perch and had a big fish on that got away. Fished by beacon island it was a nice day to fish.

Cold day tomorrow, but dragging the shanty out and doing some fishing.  Always a good weekend when the shanty hits the ice.
