Flotation Parkas, etc.
« on: Jan 02, 2024, 01:47 PM »
I have a Nebulus on my 4X4 but am thinking about gifting some family members Flotation Parkas.  There are some parkas for sale at Cabelas, and other vendors.  Any recommendations and/or experiences?

The "ICEARMOR by Clam Ascent Float Parka" caught my eye.

Thank you.

V.

You should add your location to your profile ...helps with the conditions you will be experiencing .

I would recommend bibs before a parka ...you will always wear the bibs ..most folks wear a hoodie and vest for their top layers

Also recommend 100g of insulation  from there you can go up/down on base layering to accommodate the weather condition.

Features to look for ...adjustable hem ...full zipper to hip.. expandable /elastic side panels. The brands to look at Striker ICE...Eskimo ...Clam ...Piscfun and Ice Runner ..Wind Rider

Strikemaster has been good for me. Got the suit for $530 a couple years ago. Plenty warm for single digits..

I'm on the hunt for bibs as well, want to get to a store and try them on. Strikemaster has a great looks, and a good price. As is striker. Clam are reported high quality fit may vary by person. Piscifun  is a great price but I've heard some grumbles about overall quality. . Windrider is not cheap but reported extremely high quality and classic attractive looks. I'd probably go that route if cost wasn't a concern, personally.

Nordic legend is a brand that's been picking up steam on Amazon for a couple years and is also on my radar. Good looks, fair price, I just don't know enough about them yet.
A bad day of fishing is still better than a good day at work.
