Recording Depths on Humminbird

I have a Humminbird 688ci, looking for an easy (preferably automatic) way of recording depths each time a drill a hole. I know you can buy the autochart software but really just looking for something to record the depth each time I drill a hole and add it to my map. Does anyone know if there is a setting that would accomplish this or do I have to manually save each location with notes about the depth?
