Pole Length question
« on: Jan 07, 2016, 04:36 PM »
I could only find  32"  HT ICE Blue pole at Scheels, we sit in a Yukon that we just bought.

I guess I could drill my hole farther away from my spot. We drill three holes, one for the Vexilar (middle) and one on each side for my son and myself.

What length pole do most use with a flip over

I would also like to ask what would be a decent reel to use with the pole.

thanks again

Guessing 32 is too long for flip over.

I use short 24 to 26 inchers in a shack.the 32" ht ice blue is a nice hole hopper rod.unless your in a hub shelter its to long for a flip.

it was the only UL pole they had without a reel, I hope I can drill the hole far enough to work or I go searching at bass pro to see what they have

thanks for reply

See...32" seems short...or normal rather... to me. Anything shorter and it's too soft or too stiff. Just got a 42" ul that seems long to me. But the action is fantastic

28-36" for me. I usually fish outside but often sit in my 1 man or the clam nanook.

The pole length is relative to how far one sits away from the ice hole.  Some people like to be more directly on top so shorter poles would be preferable.  I personally like to sit a bit further back, so a little longer would be my preference.

Aside from that, longer poles have more play with a larger fish and less pulsating effect with spinning reels, just because of butt guii position up further.

I have a Frabil 2 man flip over (Trekker DLX) and I use 28" to 32" rods. I wouldn't want anything longer than 32" for fishing inside

Slipperybob's all over it! Pole length needs to fit you, and your method of fishing in or outside the shelter. Get the fit for you, not someone else's fit.
