Eagle Claw Inline & fenwick Elite Doesn't fit

I bought an eagle claw inline to pare with a fenwick elite I received for Christmas and the reel does not fit in the reel seat. Has anyone had this problem and made any modifications to get this to work? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Why doesn't it fit? Reel seat too small and reel foot too large? You could, SLOWLY, sand down the reel foot until it fits. It should be solid graphite or aluminum, so it should be possible!

Ya the reel seat is too small. I thought about sanding it, but its pretty far off. I think I will try sanding it. I am not an extremely handy guy but I could do that.lol

Sand a small spot right on the tip of one of the ends, if you see that it is hollow, stop! You can, and I suggest you do, cover it with devcon 2ton epoxy after you sand it if it is graphite. Allow it to completely dry before you put it on your rod or you will never get it off.

I ran into this problem with my 13 wicked ice rod. I didn't notice when i put it on and tightened it a little too tight and bent the reel foot a little bit. Everything works fine though and i love the combo.

Interesting,I have three of the same rod and reel combo and all have fit fine

the newer reels with the longer stem, longer than the previous model, the foot is thicker. I had same problem & sanded it down to fit on a ST. Croix, one I already had ,shorter stem fits fine . Side by side its quite a bit thicker
