11 lb Laker
« on: Feb 06, 2011, 06:20 PM »
My cousin and i decided to try a new spot we have been looking at on the map. We fished it Saturday and managed a few lakers, ling, and fat perch. Overall, it was a head ache with all the snow/slush, but it payed off in the end. First came a nice 5lb laker (caught by my cousin "Dend54"), and then this nice 10.87 lb laker i got. We also stayed the night to see if there were any eyes in the same area..... No eyes but there is a PLENTIFUL amount of NICE ling (biggest was almost 5lbs 27") enjoy

No, we didnt. We didnt even jig perch, at one point we must have gotten 20 flags one right after another, the perch were keeping us on our toes.

What a beauty!  Looks like you were rewarded for going out there in all that white stuff on the ice.

we had a few fish snap us off around 30 feet on the bottom, but all the ling and lakers came at 10-20 fow.

It was on a reef. The water around the reef was about 65 feet deep and the reef came up to 10-15 feet.
